I became of student of mindfulness techniques and yoga nearly two decades ago and consider myself a perpetual student. This has played out in many forms: reading books, doing yoga, breath work, meditation, tai chi, and other practices to develop mind + body connection. These practices have transformed me from a fiery, anxious, somewhat quick to anger teenager/early 20-something to a more centered, resilient (and sometimes fiery!) adult. I completed my massage training at the Maui Academy of Healing Arts in 2006 and have focused my continuing education in Hawaiian Lomilomi massage. My primary teacher is Maka’ala Yates and I am also grateful for my other teachers, Jeana Naluai and Marcia York. I took a deep dive into Biodynamic Massage and Biodynamic Craniosacral training with Todd Jackson starting in 2014 and absolutely loving working with these modalities. The Biodynamic listening has fine tuned the amount that I am able to feel in relationship with my clients and understand more deeply how forming a relationship to the body’s own healing resources elicits potent changes and “ah-ha” moments. I have been practicing yoga since the early 2000s and teaching since 2014 following my 200RYT certification with Michele Loew at The Yoga Space in Portland, OR. This program is rooted in the Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga systems. I have dabbled in several systems of yoga over the years, but feel most connected to the teachings that move slowly and intentionally to connect us to the many layers of ourselves. It is my absolute joy to be able to partner with others to ignite both subtle and big shifts in their lives.
